  • High Hopes....

I don't mean to give anyone high expectations because of two posts in a row.  I don't know how long this jag will last...but I'll enjoy reading about your lives and keeping up with your busy summers.

My daughter played at her first wedding over the weekend.  A couple in our church renewed their vows after 39 years of marriage.  They had no traditional church service all those years ago and her husband told her he would give her the wedding of her dreams.  It was very beautiful and special.  He surprised her with a cruise this week for their honeymoon.

I, on the other hand, would have opted to go straight to the vaca!  My hubby and I have renewed our vows twice and the last time I told him that I would rather disappear somewhere and do something completely selfish.  Maybe I'm not the romantic I used to be.  Who knows...

Hope this day is a blessing for everyone!

  • Okay....here I go again...."How did I end up in Egypt?"  By way of Israel....Our first trip there was wonderful but when a small group of friends invited us along we could not resist.  Our guide was a longstanding friend of some of the group.  He had actually been their parents guide since they had begun their many pilgrimages to the Holy Land.  The pastor friends we went with have been traveling there since their parents took them as children.

There are some people who do not make good travelers and some who seem to love the adventure around every corner.  This group of only ten was so much fun.  Nobody griped and complained about the heat...or walking so much...or the different food...

Not even my daughter who was only 12 at the time...

Well....there are so many stories of God protecting us on this trip....but the most terrifying one was the night after we had visited St. Catherine's Monastery on Mt. Sinai.  I forget where we were headed (maybe Cairo...I'd have to look at my journal) but here it is after dark and we are barreling across mountainous terrain when the lights on our van go out.

To make it scarier....the driver and escorts did not want to stop and wait for a new van to be brought.  They just wanted to follow the tail lights of another vehicle (if one came along) and keep going.  My husband finally told them that his wife and child would not be making a trip across the mountain with no headlights... and they could die if they wanted... but he would not be coming along for the ride!

    So....another day....another story!

  • "I was there and back again" has once again inspired my comments.  She asked where I had ridden a camel.  I rode an extremely tall camel in Egypt... instead walking or taking the van ride that was offered.

I figured I would never be there again...and how many times do you get to see the pyramids from the back of such a beast!

Little did I know....the romance of such a moment is completely lost when struggling with all your might not to die!

So there you have it.....I have ridden a camel in one of my favorite places in the world...

Being in Egypt was a dream come true ...

Course, you would think I could find at least one pic of one of us on a camel....nope....too busy at the time...

I can't believe I have gone and left up my Christmas decorations past New Years...please forgive....I'll get right on changing my page....

Was reading my subscriptions and saw some great pics of horses....started thinking about how I've never actually sat on the back of a horse.

And I've never ridden a motorcycle....although I do dream of harleys from time to time.....

course...I have ridden a camel...and I use the verb ridden very loosely...In my short mile long ride the only accomplishment I can claim is that I didn't fall off.

I knew if my body hit the ground from that height it would be very painful!

    Happy January!
